Weekend Adventures: Rooftop Bar, Summer Drives, and Banana Bread Muffins
Come along on our weekend adventures! I'd love to hear what you did this weekend---let me know in the comments.
The weekend began with drinks on Friday evening at Quirk Hotel's Rooftop bar. The rooftop opens at 5PM and has a full bar with a small snack menu. The atmosphere is casual and perfect for a summer evening. The sun was shining and we each enjoyed two drinks. I am absolutely in love with the first drink I got, it was a pineapple and basil drink called 'Word for Ward'. So perfect! It tasted like summer. They ran out of that drink so I switched to a 'Nonsuch' and it was equally as lovely. Michael got the 'High Tea'---so delicious! I could spend every afternoon looking out on the city skyline from their rooftop.
After our lovely time at the Quirk Hotel Rooftop we ventured to The Veil Brewing Company. While I'm not someone who regularly drinks beer, I do enjoy breweries and trying new things. They had several beers available and a really great casual atmosphere. Michael enjoyed their beer. We will definitely be back.
After spending a little time hanging out at Veil Brewing we walked to dinner at Peter Chang's new restaurant in Scott's Addition. Everything was delicious and our service was wonderful!
Saturday we went to brunch at our usual (and favorite) spot, Supper. After brunch we headed to Crozet for a friend's birthday party. On our way we stopped at King Family Vineyard & Winery. We each did a wine tasting ($10/each with a souvenir glass). Such a lovely spot. On Sundays they have polo matches---that will be another weekend! On our way back we stopped at the famous Crozet Pizza---yum!
We had quite the day and decided to have a night in. That evening we watched Zootopia---so good!
Sunday morning we woke up and made breakfast at the house (egg and avocado on toast). After breakfast we drove to a nearby shark tooth spot and walked around a bit. It was so hot outside and we weren't having much luck so we called it a day after finding only two teeth. Afterwards we took some back roads home. Our afternoon was quite lazy, but included a walk towards early evening and baking some banana bread muffins. For dinner we walked to Alamo BBQ nearby. They have a portobella mushroom bbq vegetarian option that is delicious! After dinner we walked to Union Market for a few things and then home for a night in!
