30 Days of September: Day 2

30 Days of September: Day 2

A few days ago, I posted a quote on Instagram:

Instead of saying “I don’t have time for that” try saying “it’s not a priority” and see how that feels.

This quote speaks to me at a foundational level. When I first heard the words spoken out loud, I had a visceral reaction. When I look back, the easiest way to explain it is, self-introspection. I realized that I was saying, “I’m just so busy” regularly. An excuse for not visiting those I love, for not finishing a project.

“I’m so busy”, those words felt true each time I said them. But what I realized by saying those words was, the other things aren’t my priority. As a result, simply, I want to recognize the important things in my life, and make them a priority.

Spending time with those that I care about is something that is important to me.

Today, I got to spend the day with my sister. She traveled to Richmond and we ate food, took blog pictures, found vegan pie, and relished the rainy afternoon. My heart is full.

After my sister left, Michael and I walked to get tea and biscuits at a local market. Just what I wanted on this cozy evening.
