June Refresh Series: Getting Started
I love fresh starts. Whether it is a new year, a new week, or even something as little as a cleaned out fridge. I like a blank slate.
In the spirit of this, I am engaging in and creating a June Refresh Series. During the month of June, I plan to do the following:
- Re-envision my eating habits to refresh my body
- Ramp up my fitness
- Practice positive meditation and visualization techniques
If this is something that sounds interesting to you, join me! My specific plan will not fit everyone’s needs. I encourage you to develop a plan that fits your health needs and lifestyle. I am going to document my journey (the good and the bad), so if you find some ideas that you like and want to incorporate them into your life, wonderful!
How it will work: For the 30 days in June I plan to overhaul my eating and ramp up my fitness routines + incorporate meditation and mindfulness into my day.
I plan to regularly post about suggested recipes, workouts, and my progress along the way.
If you needed some inspiration to get started on your health + wellness journey, let this be it!
Below is the foundation to my series.
Body (goals): increased strength and cardiovascular health, decrease joint/back pain, gain muscle + lose fat, tone (full body with arms and legs focus)
- Primarily plant-based
- No dairy
- No processed foods (5 ingredients or less)
- Avoid sugar
- Limited alcohol intake
*Note: I don't plan on "cheat" days. I am using these 30-days to refresh my body. That being said, I always keep a mantra of 'be gentle with yourself'. If you eat a cupcake at a co-worker's birthday party, it doesn't mean you ruined all progress. Keep going!
- Continue Kayla Itsines BBG (currently on week 11, round 1)
- includes strength training
- Be active daily (at least 30 minutes)
- 3 HIIT workouts a week
- Focus on positivity
- Practice meditation
- Focus on anxiety-relief
- Practice breathing techniques
- Visualize goals
I don't measure my personal health based on weight, but I will be measuring progress along the way to better understand how my body is changing and responding to this self-designed restart.
Current weight: 125 (+/- 3lbs at any given time)
Stay tuned for recipes, workouts, and more!
Below is the workout calendar I will be using in June with potential modifications.
